The only thing missing is Kanye

Vado – 2001 Freestyle

Manhattan Neighborhood Network Flow

Shot by Dr Woo.

I still lament the loss of this show, so many legendary moments and verses. This entire style of rap is more or less dead, I don’t get the feeling that rappers today write rhymes specifically to show out in forums like Rap City or the Mixshow Circuit.
I just love how looking at these clips shows you how many big personalities were running around the game in the late 90′s/early 2000′s. The fact that all of them were given the same assignment gave them all a chance to show how unique they were, from Fab’s bottomless well of laconically-delivered punchlines, to Eminem’s precise and unexpected strings of multiples to Twista’s compound speed raps that actually sound more complex when slowed down, there was just so much talent on display.
And let’s not even talk about fashion…#XXXLTallTeesFTMFW!!

Who Will Survive In America

Gil Scott Heron – Who Will Survive In America

Gil Scott Heron x Kanye West x Eleggua

In a super-slow-mo-to-the-point-of-still homage to last year’s The Other Guys T-Pain chronicles what, I guess, is a typical night out in Miami, complete with barroom brawls, stripping little people and Mad Max-esque eyewear.
With this and the new Klaxons video, I guess short form music videos are interesting again.

Simultaneously a new Uptown anthem and a new Kappa anthem, so I felt this on two different levels. It’s an extraordinary thing when a brand becomes such a strong part of someone’s sense of cultural identity.

Love this video, love this beat…can I get on??
